Kitty Bytes - September 2005

We generally start out our newsletter with a light-hearted cat-related quote.

But in light of the disaster that affected the Gulf Coast recently, we would like to leave some links to organizations that are geared to helping animals/ people afflicted with the flood.

Our hope is that you will give to one of these places, no matter what the amount-

spcahouston.org

bestfriends.org

networkforgood.org

noahswish.org

avma.org

avmf.org

worldcare.org

and as always redcross.org

Our hearts and minds rest on the victims, their families and their pets -

It is with great difficulty that we now turn to the matter at hand and act like life is normal right now...

Kitty Bit

The best tip I can offer this month is to please spay and neuter your cats! Yes, kittens are cute, but not all kittens born into this world should be here. I just tried to rescue a litter that was beset with birth defects. One by one, the kittens faded and left this world. Please spay and neuter- it is so much more important than you realize!

On the Prowl with Stacy Mantle

This month join author Stacy Mantle as she explores a unique service for pets suffering from chronic illnesses or even the occasional behavior problem! Animal Pathways is an unusual company who specializes in the natural treatment of pets who are not showing improvement from traditional treatment by Western medicine. Is it fact or fiction? Read "On the Prowl" this month and find out as Stacy Mantle reviews this alternative style of treatment.

Disaster Preparation

Today on the Internet, I noticed a lot of pleas coming through for people to open up their homes to the abandoned animals left in the wake of Katrina. If you have time and patience to handle animals that are in shock (understandably) separated from all they know and love, then please consider opening up your home to one of these unfortunate animals.

You can find out how by clicking here.

Meowhoo Wallpaper

Let him recline on your desktop and keep his eye out on you-

In closing, we offer our heartfelt prayers toward all the people that have been affected by this Hurricane Katrina-

Until next time-

Stay safe everyone~please.
